In addition to having fun and the opportunity to meet other firearms enthusiasts, the aim of the Shootout for the Future 2 is to raise funds which will go toward future improvements to the Carson City Gun Range. Donations will go to construction of bathrooms at the range. Longer term goals include a clubhouse and picnic tables. The proceeds of the 2015 Shootout went toward the purchase and installation of the range security gate. Top How can I support the range improvements?
Entry fees for the various events, sales of raffle tickets, sponsors’ s fees, even the rental of the folding chairs at the Shootout will go toward range improvements. And, of course, donations are always welcomed and appreciated. Look for the donation jar at the Shootout booth. If you cannot attend, you may send your donation. Please make your check or money order payable to “Foundation for Carson City Parks and Recreation, Inc" or "Foundation for CCPR” and mail to: NSLGC, P.O. Box 2286, Carson City, NV 89702. Donations are tax deductible. Top Are there any special rules for this event?
Safety First! Let’s keep this event fun and safe for everyone. All event rules are to be followed by both participants and spectators. This will be a “Cold Range.” No loaded firearms except at firing line. Handguns must be unloaded and either holstered or in a carrying case. All rifles must be unloaded or broken down. Those under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. In order to participate in any of the events, participant must read and sign the event Waiver. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited at the range. Only event participants are allowed at the firing line. Top What are the Range Rules?
CARSON CITY GUN RANGE RULES (From SOP dated 5-28-2015) All shooters must obey Range Safety Officer’s instructions.
I’ve never been to the range. How do I get there?
From Carson City take Highway 50 (William Street) east. Just before Flint Road you will see signs “Landfill / Recycling” and “V&T Railway / Eastgate Depot”, both pointing to the right. Turn right on Flint Road. Follow Flint Road for approximately a half mile and turn right on Rifle Range Road. Continue on Rifle Range Road approximately one and a half miles to the range. Top Is parking available?
The Carson City Parks Department has graded an area to allow for plenty of parking. Parking is free. They’ve also filled potholes on the road leading to the range and re-graded the end of the road, removing all the lumps and bumps which used to greet visitors! Top What should I wear?
Dress for the weather, of course. A hat is recommended as there isn’t much shade at the range. Wear comfortable shoes. Closed shoes, rather than sandals, are a good choice since the parking area and the range are unpaved. Top Is there anything I need to bring?
Eye and ear protection is required for participation in all events. Spectators should also have eye and ear protection. Spectators can wear their regular glasses or sunglasses; safety glasses are better. If you don’t have ear protection, ear plugs will be available to purchase at the Shootout Booth for $1 per pair. Sunscreen is recommended. Top Is there anything I can’t bring to the range?
Alcoholic beverages are prohibited at the range. Please leave your pets at home. Service animals are permitted. Top Can my kids come?
Definitely, however those under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. It is not advisable to bring infants or young children (under 8 years old) due to noise level and lead released into the air from the firearms. Top What events can I participate in?

You do not need to be a member of one of the clubs to participate. Each participant must read the Range Rules and read and sign the Event Waiver. Top How much do each of the events cost?
